Boom Gate Repair & Servicing Australia
All Brands, Fast Response
A boom gate failure stops vehicle access immediately. A gate that won't lift blocks every vehicle waiting to enter. A gate stuck in the open position leaves your site unsecured. In a busy car park, logistics facility, or industrial site, neither situation can wait for a next-week service call.
National Entrance Systems provides boom gate repair and servicing across Australia — covering all major brands, all fault types, and all site configurations. Whether the arm won’t lift, the motor has failed, the control board is throwing errors, or a vehicle has struck the barrier, our technicians diagnose accurately and carry parts for the most common fault types on the first visit.

Common Boom Gate Faults We Repair
Motor Failure
The motor is the most load-bearing component in any boom gate system and the most common source of failure on older or high-cycle gates. A boom gate motor drives the arm up and down on every single cycle — at a busy car park running 200+ cycles per day, motor wear accumulates faster than most operators expect.
Symptoms: Slow or laboured arm movement, grinding or straining sounds during operation, the arm stopping partway through a cycle, or the gate becoming completely unresponsive with no error code displayed.
What we do: Full motor diagnostics on-site. Where replacement is required, we source OEM and compatible motors for all major Australian brands and complete the swap in most cases on the same visit.

Control Board Failure
The control board governs everything, when the arm opens, how long it stays up, how it responds to safety sensors, and how it integrates with your access control system. Control board faults typically present as erratic operation (arm opening and closing without command), error codes on the display panel, or a gate that powers on but won’t respond to any input.
Electrical faults also include wiring damage from UV degradation, moisture ingress into inadequately sealed outdoor cabinets, and rodent damage to cables, all common in outdoor installations that have not been properly maintained.
What we do: Control board diagnostics using brand-specific tools, wiring inspection, moisture and ingress assessment, and board replacement or repair where required.

Arm and Mechanism Damage
Vehicle impacts are the most common cause of physical boom gate damage. A vehicle striking the arm directly, a truck with an elevated load hitting the arm from above, or a vehicle driving through a closed gate can all cause damage ranging from a bent arm to a collapsed mechanism.
Most modern commercial boom gates use breakaway arm systems designed to release cleanly on vehicle impact, limiting damage to the arm itself rather than the motor and mechanism. Where the breakaway system has functioned correctly, repair is straightforward, arm replacement and mechanism reset. Where the impact has been severe enough to damage the mechanism, a more extensive assessment is required.
What we do: Arm replacement, mechanism inspection and repair, re-commissioning and full operational test.

Safety Device Failure
Commercial boom gates require safety devices, photocell beams, safety edges, and vehicle detection loops, that prevent the barrier from closing on a vehicle or person. Safety device failures present in two ways: the gate won’t close because the system detects an obstruction that isn’t there (nuisance fault), or the safety device has failed and the gate closes without detecting an obstruction (safety-critical fault requiring immediate repair).
What we do: All safety devices are tested on every service visit. We replace or recalibrate any safety device not functioning to specification before leaving the site.

Access Control and Integration Faults
RFID reader failures, remote control pairing loss, loop detector faults, intercom communication failures, and parking system integration problems are among the most frequent boom gate service calls. The gate mechanism is often perfectly functional, it is the trigger system that has failed.
What we do: Access control diagnostics across all configured trigger methods, reprogramming, wiring inspection, and replacement of failed devices.

Limit Switch and Calibration Faults
Limit switches tell the motor where to stop at the fully open and fully closed positions. When limits drift, the arm does not reach the correct position, the motor strains against the end stop, or the gate reverses before completing its travel. Limit adjustment is part of every maintenance visit; replacement is required when the switch itself has failed.

Preventative Maintenance
Most boom gate failures are preceded by warning signs that scheduled maintenance would have identified and resolved before they became operational failures. A gate that is becoming slower to open, a motor that sounds different under load, a safety beam that occasionally gives a false positive — these are the signals that a maintenance visit catches before a breakdown occurs.
What a full maintenance visit covers: Motor performance and current draw test; arm mechanism inspection and lubrication; limit switch verification and adjustment; all safety device function tests; access control device test across all configured trigger methods; control board diagnostic scan; cabinet seal and weathering inspection; written condition report.

Repair vs Replace
How We Advise
The decision to repair or replace a boom gate system depends on the age of the system, the brand and parts availability, the nature of the fault, and the site’s ongoing access control requirements.
As a general guide: if the system is under 8 years old and the fault is isolated to a single component, repair almost always makes financial sense. If the gate is 10–15+ years old, experiencing multiple simultaneous faults, or running on a discontinued platform with scarce parts, replacement is often the better long-term investment.
We give you an honest assessment during the repair visit, we have no interest in recommending repairs on a system that has reached end of life, or replacement when a repair would serve the site well for another five to seven years.
Brands We Repair and Install
We service all major sliding gate automation brands operating in Australia:
Roger
Brushless motor technology for extended service life and reduced maintenance requirements. Well-suited to high-cycle commercial applications where motor longevity is a priority. Increasingly specified in Australian commercial applications.
Centsys
The most widely deployed gate automation brand in Australian commercial and industrial applications. The D-Series sliding gate operators, D5 Evo, D10, D20, cover the full commercial weight range from light commercial panels to heavy industrial gates up to 2,000kg. The CENTSYS NERO and ET series cover swing gate and boom gate applications.
We are experienced across the complete Centsys product range and carry common Centsys parts. If you’re searching for a Centsys supplier or Centsys service provider in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, or regional Australia, we are an experienced Centsys installer and service provider.
